Landscaping
The ISU Alumni Association began work on its ISU Alumni Center landscaping plan in April 2010. The landscape design was done by Jim Mason ('76 landscape arch) and Rhett Faaborg ('77 animal ecol) from Ames' Country Landscapes, Inc. and by Rhonda Martin ('86 landscape arch) from ISU's department of facilities planning & management.
The following opportunities to make gifts to the ISU Alumni Center landscape remain. For more information about making a gift, contact Jeff Johnson or Cory Hanson at (877) 478-2586.
The West Lawn & Alumni Garden, $150,000 – Think of the feelings you get when you see the Campanile surrounded by shrubs as a striking balance to the openness of Central Campus and the South Lawn. We’re going to come pretty close to recreating that experience on the West Lawn of the Alumni Center. The Cyclone Tower will be the centerpiece of this very special garden, complete with benches, music, tent space, and plants galore.
The Traditions Garden Zodiac Pillar, $10,000 – Iron work, brick columns, the old gates from Clyde Williams Field, and a tranquil setting make this an inviting and intimate space. Thirteen columns that surround this garden will showcase Iowa State traditions on ceramic tiles designed by Iowa artist David Dahlquist. Visitors, whether Iowa Staters or not, will walk away knowing why we are the Cyclones and love our university traditions. This space will also accommodate up to two 30X60 outdoor tents
